University of Houston-Clear Lake values you as an employee and we are committed to your success. We understand it can be a challenge at times to balance work with your personal and family life.
Work/Life Services offers programs, policies and practices to address some of these challenges and help our employees create a healthy balance between work and personal responsibilities.
Caring for You-Flexible Work Schedule
University of Houston-Clear Lake encourages the use of workplace flexibility to support the well-being of our employees and achieve our workplace goals. Although not every position can take advantage of these arrangements, there are often options for a flexible work schedule that can be customized to work for both the department and the individual. A flexible work schedule may benefit employees and departments and contribute to a positive work/life culture. Some examples include:
- Extended hours of operation for more customer service (more hours with same amount of staff);
- Reduced turnover;
- Improved morale, commitment, and productivity.
In accordance with UH System Administrative Policy 02.A.20, the University of Houston-Clear Lake operating hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday (with one hour off for lunch).
- Regular, full-time staff employees are required to work a minimum of 40 hours per week unless in paid leave status.
- Part-time and temporary employees are expected to work those hours designated by the employing department as necessary to fulfill the requirements of their position.
All university offices shall remain open during the noon hour and appropriately staffed in order to transact the business of the department/unit. However, the work schedules of some employees may be adjusted as necessary to provide optimal operational efficiency.
